Yesterday was a beautiful day! The weather was perfect -- it was warm with just a bit of a breeze! Today again is beautiful but this morning was a bit chilly for the boys heading out to the bus. Fall is definitely in the air. The leaves are starting to turn beautiful colors and the mornings now require a sweatshirt. Iowa in the Fall is just breathtaking --- if you ever come to visit around now and into early November would be a good time!
Chad has been working long hours and recently switched to third shift which is from 10pm to 7am -- which means he sleeps during the day. GOOD LUCK with that at our house ...... especially on a weekend! Sunday was his last work day for the rotation and he usually doesn't sleep so much with the attempt of getting back on "our" schedule. I was able to keep the troops relatively quite in the morning with baking cookies and playing outside. We even ate lunch on the porch and rode bikes for a long time -- the older four decided they would practice their crash landings on their bikes. They got rather inventive with the drops and positioning of the bikes --Daniel was the rescue squad and tended to their imaginary wounds along with lifting the bikes off of the "fallen soldiers" as they called themselves. Chad did wake up mid day and after doing some repair to two of the bikes we decided to head up to the school so they could ride on the blacktop. We had a relaxing time and the boys had fun showing Daddy their tricks. Zach did bite the dust on one of his jumps. No skinned knees or elbows. Just a bruised ego!
Chad and I enjoyed a moment of piece while they played but it didn't last long before the kids were piled on top of us.
