Pumpkin Patch

I tagged along on JohnMichael's field trip to the pumpkin patch! We took a hayride through the patch and learned about the "birth" of a pumpkin. We finished up the field trip with pumpkin bars and hot apple cider --- YUMMY!




Fun Pumpkin Fact:
Did you know that pumpkins only grow from "mommy pumpkin flowers?" I didn't! It all starts with a few seeds .... that grow into vines .... along those vines are "daddy & mommy" flowers .... bee's come along and pollinate from the daddy to mommy flower .... and then comes baby pumpkin! This photo is a mommy flower and at the base is the start of a pumpkin! It is true .... you learn something new everyday!
