Planting on the farm
Since spring has finally come to Iowa JohnMichael and I have been trying to get out to the farm at least once a week to help with the planting. Art has farmed for nearly 65 plus years now and Lorraine has never failed in getting a garden in --- not even when she broke her hip! All be it we are not much help we do tend to bring some excitement when we show up. Last week we planted just about 10 rows of potatoes and weeded the strawberry patch. We found four ripe berries -- John savored two and produced the other two to Art with a proud smile upon his face. We also were able to get in two rows of cabbage along with three flower beds -- chicken proofed and all! Art got his corn in and is now working on the bean field. With the weather forecast I bet it will be in by the end of next week. They continue to amaze me with their drive and strength to continue farming. They are a wonderful and hard working couple that I am truly blessed to have in my life. I am doubly thankful they have opened their hearts not just to me but the family that they have supported and seen grow over the past few years.
